Meet Margate locals Asa & Harry - stars of our latest campaign shoot
Who are you and what do you both do?
H-We’re Asa and Harry, and we’re a couple living in Margate. Asa is a Pilates teacher before she retrained she was a painter and illustrator, and I’m a freelance musician.
How long have you been together, where/how did you meet?
A- We’ve been together for four years. We met in Peckham as we lived on the same street and had the same breed of dog, which set us up to get our Doberman Ace together.
How did you come to live in Margate?
A- We moved to Margate two years ago, as we had both been in London for over a decade and wanted a better balance of work and home life. Harry travels a lot for work so it’s great to have a lovely base to come back to, and we each have a studio here for our creative practices here.
What do you love about living in Margate?
A- it’s a cliche but it’s amazing to have all the beaches close by, for the dogs. Everyone knows everyone here and it feels great to be part of a community. The coffee scene is amazing, and the town’s full of creatives and I’ve loved being around a lot of like minded individuals.
What are your top three places to visit in Margate?
H-apart from Positive Retail (obviously), for me it’s Curve Coffee, Forts and Tat Agent up on Northdown Road. I don’t drink alcohol anymore so the coffee shops make up a pretty big part of my day.
A - I’m a big fan of Giant coffee, all the food is vegan and delicious.
How would you describe your personal style? Where do you go to buy clothes?
H- I don’t really know what my personal style is to be honest. If I can wear it on a stage and a dog walk then I’m in! I’m really into the concept of buying well and buying once, so I end up buying a lot of workwear stuff from brands I trust, or second hand stuff that looks like it holds up well. I’m in and out of Positive Retail like a yoyo, and I keep an eye on the vintage and second hand places up on Northdown Road too, and I’m a bit of a sucker for Vinted.
A- Since I work 6 days a week as a Pilates instructor I pretty much live in leggings now which makes me a bit sad at times! On my days off I try and dress a little less casual, I have some great vintage Issey Miyake pieces I’ve worn to death and i'm a big fan of oversized suit trousers which is my go to. I like mixing feminine pieces with masculine and a big fan of more baggy street style as well. But as I said day to day it’s less exciting and more athleisure.
