(CLOSED) We're Hiring! Margate Store Sales Role
Job Description: Margate Store Sales Role
About Positive Retail
Positive Retail is a B Corp-certified company built on a foundation of disruptive change. Our people are central to that mission. We are a team of retail activists, and we are now hiring a Sales Associate to join our Margate store.
Role Purpose
Reporting to the Store Lead, the Sales Associate plays a key role in delivering trade, standards and an exceptional customer experience on every shift, and steps up to support the team whenever needed.
This is a heart-led commercial role for someone who can champion our values while driving sales with both passion and purpose.
Key Responsibilities
-
Deliver an outstanding customer experience on the shop floor, acting as a confident first point of contact for customers.
-
Drive and contribute to the store's weekly and monthly sales targets, engaging actively with trade performance alongside the Store Lead.
-
Maintain visual merchandising standards at all times, helping to keep the store feeling premium, curated and cohesive.
-
Monitor stock levels across clothing and lifestyle ranges, flagging replenishment needs to the Store Lead in good time.
-
Represent and communicate our brand partners' identities and values to customers with confidence.
-
Engage customers in meaningful conversations about the retail system, sustainability and the wider purpose of Positive Retail. Our work is 50% selling, 50% educating.
-
Support opening and closing routines and contribute positively to the energy and standards of the team on shift.
The Four Pillars
The role is structured around the four pillars of our business: People, Product, Planet and Profit.
People
Strong people skills are essential, including an intuitive understanding of how humans operate. The role calls for reading the energy of everyone who walks through the door, responding appropriately, and bringing warmth, compassion and a sense of fun. People remember how you make them feel.
Just as understanding others is vital, so too is understanding yourself. We lead ourselves every day, and how you choose to show up matters.
Above all, we are looking for someone who is reliable, takes pride in their work, and is someone the company is proud to have on board.
Product
Our stores look exceptional, the result of great taste, vibrant energy and considered thinking. As a Sales Associate, you will help uphold that visual standard at all times, so a strong eye for VM is important. Displays are arranged by colour palette, and you will play your part in keeping the shop feeling premium, curated and cohesive.
Positive Retail is proud to partner with exceptional brands including Universal Works, Margaret Howell and Aligne. A solid understanding of each brand's identity and values is required so that you can communicate them to customers with confidence.
Our non-clothing ranges, including beauty, books and jewellery, deserve the same care. Staying on top of stock levels and flagging replenishment needs in good time is a key part of the role.
Planet
The urgent challenges facing our world are well understood, and the fashion and retail industries carry a significant share of the responsibility. Understanding why change is needed is fundamental to what we do.
This role requires a broad awareness of the issues within the retail system, as engaging customers meaningfully on these topics is core to the work. We are both disruptors and educators, and our job is 50% selling, 50% educating. An understanding of how retail has shifted over the past 20 years, and how Positive Retail fits into that change, is central to the mission.
Profit (Trade)
We take real pride in building something new in retail, creating brilliant customer experiences and championing the mission. We are also here to be profitable, and every shift contributes to that.
You will be expected to know your store's sales targets and understand how your shifts contribute to them. The Store Lead and the weekly trade notes will provide direction, and your engagement with them is genuinely valued: what is working, where the opportunities lie, and where you can push. We expect your input.
Context matters too. You should understand how Margate is trading relative to the rest of the business, including how each store contributes to the overall picture, and how yours stacks up week to week.
