Store Supervisor - Dalston

Positive Retail is a B Corp-certified company built on a foundation of disruptive change. Our people are central to that mission,  we're a team of retail activists, and we're hiring a Supervisor to help lead our Dalston store.

Role Purpose
As Supervisor, you are a senior presence on the shop floor. You set the standard, for how the store looks, how customers are met, and how the team shows up. You report to the Store Lead and step up in their absence, taking ownership of trade, standards, and the customer experience whenever you're on.
This is a heart-led commercial role for someone who can champion our values while driving sales with both passion and purpose.

Key Responsibilities
Lead shifts - opening and closing the store, running the floor, and being the point of escalation for the team and for customers.
Drive, hit and contribute to the store's weekly and monthly sales targets, and engage actively with trade performance with head office and the store lead.
Maintain visual merchandising standards at all times, ensuring the store feels premium, curated, and cohesive.
Monitor stock levels across clothing and lifestyle, and flag replenishment needs to HQ in good time.
Represent and communicate our brand partners' identities and values confidently to customers.
Engage customers in meaningful conversations about the retail system, sustainability, and why Positive Retail exists, we're 50% selling, 50% educating.
Set the tone for the team on shift: standards, energy, and behaviour.

Product
Our stores look fantastic — the result of great taste, vibrant energy, and sensible thinking. As Supervisor, you're responsible for maintaining that high visual standard at all times, so a strong VM skillset is essential. Displays are arranged by colour palette, and it's on you to ensure the shop always feels premium, curated, and cohesive.

Positive Retail is proud to partner with exceptional brands including Universal Works, Margaret Howell, and Aligne. You'll need a solid understanding of each brand's identity and values so you can communicate them to customers with confidence.
Our non-clothing ranges — beauty, books, jewellery and more — deserve the same care. Staying on top of stock levels and flagging replenishment needs to HQ in good time is a key part of the job.

Planet
We're all aware of the urgent challenges our world is facing — and the fashion and retail industries carry a significant share of responsibility. Understanding why change is needed is fundamental to what we do.
This role requires a broad awareness of the problems within the retail system, because engaging customers meaningfully on these topics is core to the work. We are both disruptors and educators — our job is 50% selling, 50% educating. An understanding of how retail has shifted over the last 20 years, and how Positive Retail fits into that change, is key to the mission.
To support this, every team member receives a copy of Consumed by Aja Barber — our core critical text. We also share updates, hot topics, and cultural conversations in our store WhatsApp group to keep everyone connected and informed.

Profit (Trade)
We're here to delight in building something new in retail — creating brilliant customer experiences and taking real pride in the mission. But we're also here to be profitable, and as Supervisor you carry real ownership of that.

You'll be expected to know your store's sales targets and understand how your shifts contribute to them. Your Store Lead and the weekly trade notes will give you direction, but it's your responsibility to engage with them: what's working, what the opportunities are, and where you can push. We value your insight and expect your input.
Context matters too. You should understand how Dalston is trading relative to the rest of the business — how each store contributes to the overall picture, and how yours stacks up week to week.

Who We're Looking For

• Previous retail supervisory or keyholder experience, or a strong sales assistant ready to step up.
• Confident in VM and visual standards.
• Genuinely engaged with sustainability, ethical retail, and the conversations our brand exists to have.
• Reliable, self-aware, and able to hold a team to a standard with warmth.

Working Conditions
Hours: 17.5 hours per week, worked over 2–3 days, Friday to Sunday.
Salary: £15/hr (we are a Living Wage employer).
Location: Dalston store, 58 Dalston Lane, E8 3AH, London.
Reports to: Dalston Store Lead.
